Message from the Principal Secretary of Trade Department

Dear Esteemed Stakeholders and Partners,

On the 26th April 2025, Seychelles celebrated its 10th Anniversary since its accession to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), as the 161st member of the most prestigious organisation in the world that governs multilateral trade mattes. With this backdrop, the Seychelles Trade Portal remains the central repository for access to trade and trade related information to the public and international counterparts. Therefore, by providing easy and smooth access to information, it ensures alignment with the Ministry’s mandate and caters for fulfilment of our transparency commitments under the WTO.

Given the ever-changing patterns in global trade, influenced by wider global economic factors, the Government remains committed to ensuring the ease of doing business, smooth bilateral, regional and multilateral trade between Seychelles and its partners. Thus, the Seychelles Trade Portal serves as a compliment and an important element to other existing information sharing frameworks, for promoting investment and ‎facilitating trade. It also continues to serve as the window for deepening knowledge with updated ‎information on policies, laws and measures for Trade in Goods, Services and Intellectual Property Rights, for improved ‎decision-making by Ministries, Departments, Agencies, Investors and Traders.

Whilst the Portal offers a wide range of potential benefits such as access to  existing and new national trade policies, trade related laws and regulations, trade facilitating procedures and measures, those benefits  would only ‎materialise ‎with frequent and effective usage of the platform. In this regard, I would therefore ‎encourage our local business community, potential investors, traders as well as the general public in ‎Seychelles, to fully make use of this platform as the central digital repository to leverage the maximum benefit it has to offer.

As I embark in this new appointment, it is part of my vision to ensure that Seychelles continues to exploit its interests on the regional and international marketplace, as to ensure, our country strives to become a hub for increasing trade connectivity and exchange within the region.

Finally, I wish to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to my predecessor, the staff of the Trade Division and all contributors who were actively involved in realising this well-conceived project.
